Please join SAF for a tour of the remarkable artist compound on South Creek in Osprey, Florida. Featuring a talk by architect Glenn Darling, AIA, Hall Architects, and a wine and cheese reception.

Wabi Sabi is a worldview characterized by the awareness and expression of beauty through the integrity and inherent imperfection of natural objects and processes. Materials are left in their natural state as a way of expressing the process and “hand” of the builders.

Cypress ceilings, cork and plywood floors bring warmth and depth while serving as a counterpoint to the wood-grained masonry and concrete holding the living and working areas up above the base flood elevation. An expansive grassy open area between the two houses rolls down to the water, connecting the interior spaces with the semi-tropical setting.

Thank you to homeowners and ceramic artists Lynne Osterman and Michael Newman for graciously opening their home.
